The Handbook
Introduction
The Matchii handbook is the central place for how we run the company. It is open to the world, and we welcome feedback.
We also keep an internal handbook for the smaller set of things that should stay inside the company. Anything that belongs there does not belong on this site.
Contributing
Everyone can contribute. If a page here is wrong, out of date, or missing something you know, the change is yours to propose.
Every page on this site comes from a Markdown file in the
handbook repository under content/handbook/.
The path in the URL matches the path in the repo, so /handbook/marketing/integrated-marketing/
is content/handbook/marketing/integrated-marketing/_index.md.
For a typo or a small wording fix, edit the file directly in GitLab’s web interface. It creates the branch and the merge request for you, and needs no local setup.
For anything larger, fork the repo, work on a branch (not your fork’s main), preview it
locally with make docker-view, and open a merge request. Only Docker is needed; you do not
have to install Hugo.
The full process, the local build commands, and what reviewers look for are in
CONTRIBUTING.md.
Read that before your first merge request.
Two things worth knowing before you write:
- This handbook is public. Compensation, individual performance, customer specifics, and anything else you would not say in public belong in the internal handbook, or nowhere. Ask if you are unsure — git history is permanent, and a public repository cannot really be unpublished.
- This site began as a fork of GitLab’s handbook and is being migrated to our own. You will keep finding GitLab branding, GitLab URLs and GitLab page structure as you read. That is work in progress rather than a defect, though a merge request fixing any of it is welcome.
