How matching works
The signals and lifecycle behind a Matchii match, at the level of ideas.
This page describes the matching engine conceptually. The precise signals, weights and thresholds are the core of the product and stay internal; what they do and why is not a secret.
What goes in
From the client, a brief: what the project is, the category of work, the budget, the timeline, and what a good outcome looks like. The brief is the unit everything else works from, which is why the product asks you to brief once, properly.
From the agency, a verified profile: categories of work, portfolio, capacity, and, once an agency has delivered through Matchii, its track record here. Delivered work counts for more than any self-description.
What the engine does
- Candidate selection. A brief is matched against agencies whose verified capabilities cover the work at all. Most agencies are not candidates for most briefs, and that is the point.
- Scoring and ranking. Candidates are scored on fit: expertise in the category, budget compatibility, capacity, and evidence of past delivery. Ranking decides which agency sees the brief first, not who is theoretically capable.
- Structuring. A match arrives with scope, milestones and payment structure proposed, so the first conversation between client and agency is about the work, not about the paperwork.
- Both sides choose. A match is an offer, not an assignment. Client and agency each accept or decline, and a decline is signal too.
How it gets better
The engine learns from completed projects. Estimates are corrected against what work actually took. An agency’s delivered outcomes feed its future matching. Demand and supply in each category shift what a fair price looks like. None of this requires anyone to fill in a form; delivering work through the platform is the feedback.
What we do not do
- We do not match blind. Every agency in a match cleared verification first.
